Check your local Leisure Centre as they normally have sessions for the more mature. Details of some of the Leisure Centres are on this website.
The Luncheon Clubs are a good way of meeting people and making friends - and having a reasonably priced meal of course.
Some of the Age UK Centres have a visiting and befriending service where volunteers offer friendship and support to older people in their own homes, especially those living alone or who are housebound.
