Check your local Leisure Centre as they normally have sessions for the more mature. Details of some of the Leisure Centres are on this website.
The Luncheon Clubs are a good way of meeting people and making friends - and having a reasonably priced meal of course.
Some of the Age Concern Centres have a visiting and befriending service where volunteers offer friendship and support to older people in their own homes, especially those living alone or who are housebound.
U3A groups around the united Kingdom are members of the Third Age Trust. Its main purpose is to encourage lifelong learning for those no longer in full time gainful employment. Visit their website for full information and details of local groups

Heyday is an organisation for the Over 50s. You get a magazine every two months and there is an opportunity of saving money on goods and services. There are also Friendship Centres where you can meet new friends at monthly meetings and outings.

MEDIA ARTS WearPurple is an arts project based in Vale Royal. People over 55 work with professional artists, dancers, musicians and poets to create exciting new artwork and performances. Are you housebound and unable to do as much for yourself as you used to?Are you fed up with the same routine?Does your carer need a break?Do you fancy a change of scenery, a bit of company and a meal cooked for you?If the answer to these questions is YES, then why not try our SOCIAL CLUBS?You will be picked up at home at around 10am by one of our vehicles ( all of which are able to carry wheelchair-bound passengers) and then spend a few hours enjoying yourself with other people in pleasant surroundings. You can take part in singalongs, talks, quizzes, bingo, raffles, gentle armchair exercise or you can just sit and chat. Each club also organises outings from time to time.
